We went on a field trip with some of our homeschool friends to a local pumpkin patch.  The kids loved it, got a story read to them, did a craft, learned some stuff, got a shaved ice and a “hay ride”, and even got pumpkins to bring home and carve.  It’s nice to be able to do fall traditions here in Florida, away from our normal… although ‘normal’ is change for us as a Navy family, it seems.   Tomorrow will be filled with fall festivals and halloween parties, then next week we’ll be off to a halloween zoo experience, a halloween co-op party, and trick-or-treating, and later we have plans to head to a giant corn maze/farm/pumpkin patch.  It’s finally time to start thinking about camping, as well, which may just have to be in the near future.  It would seem that fall, when the weather shifts to being slightly cooler, is a marvelous time to be out-of-doors in Florida.
