halloween season

Nov 2, 2015

Oh, the excitement we endure  enjoy each year as we progress into the Halloween season.  Yes, it is a season, starting right around mid-August, when the kids borrow stacks of Halloween books from the library, hunt for costume supplies at the thrift store, break out the Halloween bin from the garage, and start making.  Ashton, with her ten Halloween decor books in tow, made lists upon lists of ideas before beginning a whirlwind of decorating, crafting, and food creating.  Indeed, it’s been a season of Halloween around here.

And then there were pumpkins…

Ashton desperately needed a Halloween party, so we invited Matt’s bandmates over and made one happen.  We enjoyed kids running inside and outside, bobbing for apples, a table of Halloween-themed foods, a houseful of decorations, homemade-by-Ashton Halloween tic-tac-toe and pin-the-nose-on-the-pumpkin, s’mores roasting and witches brew consuming.  Here are just a few photos of the before and after…

Now onward to the big day itself, after the haunted houses, of course….

Finally, it’s done.  Until next year, we can let the dead lie….
