malta part 1: sliema, dingli, mdina, and marsakloxx

Apr 3, 2019

Our long-time friends, the Swensons, moved recently from Kalispell to Turkey, and wanted to meet up with us for their spring break week.  We chose the island country of Malta, just off the southern tip of Italy.  We wanted Matt to come as well, but unfortunately the Navy Band had other plans for him (he went to the Embassy in Iraq).  The kids and I joined the Swensons for a week filled with touring, nature, and food.  There are too many photos to put into one post, so I am splitting them up.

Here is the view from our lovely apartment in Sliema:

I totally learned how to drive on the other side of the car AND the road.  I remembered how much I love driving a manual transmission, too.  What a milestone that was for me!!!

Dingli cliffs and Blue Grotto, and Cedar with a bird:

We wandered through the medieval town of Mdina, where some of Game of Thrones was filmed.  I ate rabbit stew!

Our apartment had a hot tub with a view!  On our one rainy day, I went to an amazing gym, the kids had American pizza for the first time in over a year, and we shopped and wandered in Sliema.

While the boys found a computer game store, the girls went to a fishing village called Marsaxlokk, where we admired the colorful boats and ate fish soup.
