Ashton and I went on a weekend getaway to Vienna.  Got there Thursday night (thanks to our 3 vaccines) and flew home Sunday.  The airplane was very empty and so was much of the city, due to Covid and January.  It was COLD, especially when the breeze kicked up, so we had to find warmth in coffee shops, cafes, bookshops and the cinema.  We found an English bookshop and also an English cinema where all the movies were played in English without subtitles– we saw West Side Story.  We ate schnitzel and strudel and sacher cake and roast beef with dumplings and flaky apple pastry, got coffee to go, and ate a lot of Asian food as well (Vienna center has an abundance of Asian and Italian restaurants!).  We saw so much architecture, took a historical museum tour with VR and wax people, and rode the Giant Ferris Wheel.  Ash was super excited about SNOW, and I was super excited about our apartment with functioning heat in which I didn’t have to wear a winter coat (these Naples houses have no insulation and terrible heating, so we are always frozen inside the house).  Mostly we had fun just being together; we are really good travel buddies.
